Lesson 138.

Today's Lesson: verb subject Agreement

The verb must agree with the subject in number and person, i.e., it must be of the same number (singular / plural) and person as the subject. 

1.Ɣɛn ye ɣöt yïk nom në noon= I thatch the roof of the house with grass.

2.Ɣɛn nhiar ba yïk = I like to thatch.

3.Yen anhiar  yïk= He likes thatching.

4.Yen anhiar bë yïk = He likes to thatch.

5.Keek aanhiar yïk = they like thatching.

6.Keek aanhiar bïk yïk = they like to thatch.

7.Wɔ nhiar yïk = we like thatching.

8.Wɔ nhiar buk yïk = we like to thatch.

9.Adut ku Abuk aa rak ɣɔ̈k luakthok = Adut and Abuk are milking cows in the barnyard

10. Acol ku Yar aa pur dom apiɛth = Acol and Yar are cultivating the garden very well.

11. Adut ku Abuk aacï ɣöt nyiɛc nyiny= Adut and Abuk have plastered the house very well.

12. Nyïïr aacï ɣɔ̈k raak wënthɛɛr = the girls had already milked the cows.

13. Diäär aacï ɣöt yïk nom në noon = The women have thatched the roof with grass.

14.Tik acï cuïn thaal= A woman has cooked  food 

15.Diäär aacï  rap tem= the women have harvested the sorghums 

16.Yen anhiar nyiië bël raau = He loves chewing on sorghum straw.

17.Dhuk acï woŋ raak = the boy has milked the cow.

18.Cuïndu aca thaal = I have cooked your food (Active voice).

19.Cuïndu acï thaal = your food has been cooked (passive voice).

20.Wɔ cï domdu puur = We have cultivated your garden (Active voice).
