 Subject:Thuɔŋjäŋ. 

Today's Lesson: Sentence Agreement 


The verb must agree with the subject in number and person, i.e., it must be of the same number (singular / plural) and person as the subject. 


1. Ɣɛn ye ket= I sing.

2. Ɣɛn nhiar ba ket = I like to sing.

3. Yen anhiar kët = He likes singing.

4. Yen anhiar bë ket = He likes to sing.

5. Keek aanhiar kët = they like singing.

6. Keek aanhiar bïk ket = they like to sing.

7. Wɔ nhiar kët = we like singing.

8. Wɔ nhiar buk ket = we like to sing.

9. Bol ku Malual aa pur domic = Bol and Malual are cultivating on the farm.

10. Atëm ku Deŋ aa yup bul apiɛth = Atem and Deng are beating the drum well.

11. Atëm ku Deŋ aacï yup bul apiɛth = Atem and Deng have beaten the drum well.

12. Nyïïr aacï ɣɔ̈k raak wënthɛɛr = the girls had already milked the cows.

13. Në aräŋräŋde, acen ajïm de ca puɔth = In her hurry she dropped the milk gourd.

14. Tik acï meth nyueth = A woman has weaned a child

15. Diäär aacï mïth nyueth = the women have weaned the children

16. Yeŋö ye yïn lɔräŋräŋ? = why are you in a hurry?

17. Dhuk akën woŋ miit = the boy did not pull the cow.

18. Në jäälde  ëränyräny, acen awalwalade waan në thɔ̈ɔ̈t nhom = in her hurry to leave, she left her awalwala on the stove.

19. Cuïndu acï thaal = your food has been cooked (passive voice).

20. Wɔ cï cuïndu thaal = We have cooked your food (Active voice).
